If you’re alarmed by the Trump administration’s attacks on the Constitution, the rule of law, and the very foundations of our democracy, you’re not alone.

We’ve seen Trump ignore court orders, issue unlawful executive actions, and use the powers of his office to punish critics and undermine fair elections. Due process has been tossed aside. Meanwhile, Congress has stood by, allowing the balance of power to erode.

That’s why we’ve come together to form Ragtag, a bipartisan group of concerned citizens, led by veterans, committed to defending the Constitution when those in power will not. Our name is a nod to the ragtag band of patriots in the Continental Army, and to the fact that we’re a diverse, grassroots coalition united by a common mission: to stand up for American democracy before it’s too late.

If you are as concerned about the Trump administration’s illegal actions and lack of respect for the Constitution and the Rule of Law as I am, here is a group you may want to join. The group’s name is Ragtag and it symbolizes their connection to the ragtag group of patriots in the Continental Army who fought to bring freedom and the Rule of Law to our country.  Ragtag is also a diverse, "ragtag" group of patriots of all political affiliations who are dedicated to preventing our Constitution and the Rule of Law from being subverted and weakened. 

We have seen Trump issue executive orders that violate the law, ignore or resist court orders and push the limits of executive power. What makes this profoundly disturbing situation even worse is that the members of the U.S. Congress, who took an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” are forfeiting their role of being a co-equal branch of government to act as a curb on excesses by the current administration.

Ragtag is a non-partisan group of concerned citizens, led by Veterans, that have come together to demand that members of Congress honor their oath to support and defend the Constitution by resisting the abuses of power and illegal activities of the Trump Administration. This effort is being led by Veterans since we swore the same oath to support and defend the Constitution and are thus upset that so many members of Congress are failing to do this.
